Challenge
Building one trusted cloud platform to eliminate data silos and modernize analytics
Following the UNIQA–AXA merger, the company needed a unified, scalable data foundation to replace fragmented systems and support faster, more informed decision-making. The project aimed to create a platform that would simplify operations today and enable advanced analytics and AI tomorrow.
- Transition from hybrid/on-prem DWHs to a cloud-native Delta Lakehouse on Azure and Databricks.
- Consolidate siloed data and remove inconsistent, hard-to-maintain integrations by establishing a single trusted data platform for UNIQA CZ and SK.
- Shift from manual, descriptive reporting to near-real-time analytics, predictive modeling, and self-service BI.
- Support customer-focused initiatives and AI/ML data use cases across Product, Sales, and CRM.
Solution
Shaping UNIQA’s data needs into a structured Lakehouse with automated pipelines and reusable ML features
UNIQA adopted a modern Medallion architecture on Databricks platform, while utilizing a metadata-driven ingestion framework – a unified processing of structured and unstructured data, fully governed and automated inside Databricks.
To support analytics and engineering, Adastra implemented:
- Ingestion and orchestration frameworks to support metadata driven and fully automated ETL, orchestration and artifacts generation processes
- Migration of on-premise DWH, while maintaining DWH principles and logic in the Lakehouse
- A domain-oriented Data Mesh structure (Product, Sales, CRM) aligned with business teams and self-service needs.
The platform integrated core business data, including quotation/proposal flows, the Technical Insurance Model (TIM), Customer 360, call center activity, and CRM records.
Impact
From Three Legacy DWHs to One Trusted Platform – Consistent, Real-Time–Ready Data
The new platform replaced three legacy DWHs and eliminated fragmentation caused by post-merger systems. UNIQA now operates with a single, consistent source of truth across CZ and SK.
Near-real-time processing enables faster reporting cycles and supports the development of predictive models. The business gained the ability to shift focus from manual data reconciliation to customer value and analytics-driven decision-making.
Operational teams benefit from improved governance, shared standards, and simpler collaboration across Product, Sales, and CRM. The cloud-native setup provides elastic scaling and transparent pay-as-you-go costs, aligning the platform’s economics with actual consumption.
