Challenge
Digitalization in Skoda Auto
With ongoing digitalization, Skoda Auto increasingly focuses on software development, management, and integration with other applications and systems. The company extensively evaluates data obtained in the areas of development, operation, and security; a process significantly aided by observability.
Solution Story
Integration of Dynatrace
For over four years, Skoda Auto has been using the Dynatrace observability platform, gradually connecting both internal and external applications utilized by their customers and suppliers. Currently, five applications are connected, with four running in the cloud and one on-premises. The applications and the entire IT ecosystem of the automaker require a range of innovative technologies for smooth operation, both online and offline, on-premises, and in the cloud. This necessitates the adaptation of their monitoring and observability.
Among the most interesting applications monitored by Dynatrace at Skoda Auto are:
- The employee portal Skoda Space, built on Linux
- The manufacturing application Magic Eye, which uses neural networks to monitor the wear and tear of the production line for parts/bodies
- An offline solution for dealers that monitors user response times when using tablets
Impact
Observability Enables a Holistic View
Thanks to the Dynatrace observability platform, business users from various departments at Skoda Auto gain:
- A comprehensive view of the functionality of the applications they work with, presented in clear and understandable dashboards
- Flexibility – users can create their own dashboards with custom metrics or use dashboards prepared by the IT department
Skoda Auto plans to fully utilize the Dynatrace platform, leveraging its advanced AI and automation features. The company is already planning to deploy it to more applications in the future.
