The Plastic Bottle Movement Monitoring project, implemented by Adastra in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, triumphed in the prestigious EUTECH SDG Awards.

In the category of SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, the project earned the top prize. It stood out among 170 finalists from around the world who use technological innovations to address global challenges.

“This award confirms that innovation and technology can make a significant contribution to sustainability solutions. It’s fantastic to see our work have such an impact,” said Petr Blabla, CEO Adastra LAB.

The goal of the project, for which the Adastra team received the highest award, was to determine what happens to plastic bottles after they are thrown into sorted waste bin.

“To track their movement, we used IoT chips connected to a smart IoT platform, both of which were custom developed with a focus on minimal carbon footprint. We wanted to verify how many plastic bottles in the Czech Republic actually get recycled and leverage real, transparent data as a basis for improving the entire process,” added Petr Blabla.
