Plzeňský Prazdroj is launching the “Smart Taproom” project, which aims to lower utility costs in pubs. As the name suggests, it is dependent on smart solutions. This is why the largest brewery in the Czech Republic has invited Adastra to cooperate with them, providing all the software development and data analysis.
Adastra will specifically be in charge of analyzing the data provided by the monitoring devices. Nearly 30 sensors will be used in each of the 45 pilot pubs. Several variables will be measured, from beer temperature and water flow to electricity consumption.
Adastra’s experts will also create a digital twin of the taproom to simulate operation and find the right solutions. The data analysis will run in the cloud on a Microsoft Azure platform.

Plzeňský Prazdroj’s goal, according to their sales director Tomáš Mráz, is to preserve the typical Czech beer culture and not only help pubs survive the current, difficult period, but also give them a tool that will help them reduce their costs in the long term.
“Monitoring will provide us with important data, on the basis of which we, together with our partners, will then be able to innovate tap technology, with which we can in turn furnish the pubs,” says Tomáš Mráz.
Measuring for the Smart Taproom project will take 12 months and the results will be available in the course of the next year.
